Lack of motivation

I have been so unmotivated this year, as if you couldn't tell from my lack of postings.  I just started all of my seeds just a couple weeks ago.  Our crazy Iowa weather brought snow yesterday so I may be ok with the late start.  I believe part of my lack of motivation is the direct result of knowing that I have to completely redesign my garden area.  With the new greenhouse, I must rearrange to accommodate new walking paths.  I'm hoping it will get warm and dry enough to get moving here soon...while I have motivation to do so.

Over the winter, the grocery store produce section induced depression should have been motivation enough.  I have questioned myself all winter as to why I didn't start small containers of herbs for my kitchen during the winter.  Seriously $3.00 for a branch with 5 leaves of basil?  Sometimes a girl has to have her basil, but really?  I'm in the wrong line of work.

I figured a list of items that I am craving might help get me going so here they are.
  1. Garden fresh tomatoes -I have refused to eat a fresh tomato for months now.  Those pink orbs of mush simply haven't cut it. I even wore red for Tomatoes last month in hopes mother nature would speed up spring.  It didn't work.  See the snow reference above.
  2. Fresh basil - One word - Heavenly...and grocery store expensive.
  3. Green beans - my kids have even mentioned that they can't wait for fresh green beans.
  4. Variety lettuce.  Oh yes.  To go out in the garden and pick my salad.  OHHHH.
  5. Peppers - This is my husbands area.  He is excited to have an entire section of the garden dedicated to peppers.  He even wants to use hot pepper plants as in our landscaping.
  6. Zucchini - without channeling the shrimp dude from Forrest Gump, you know all of the things you can do with Zucchini.
  7. No high produce bill at the grocery store.
This is our 7 day forecast.  Doesn't look like I will be able to get too much done this weekend with the rain on Friday.  Please take note of Easter Sunday.  Looks like we will be blessed with a very nice day.

Well I hope that all of you are off to a much better start than I am.  Happy Gardening!

Snow? Ugh! It will warm up and stay that way pretty soon. Hang on, you'll make it! Use all this time for planning!

I would love to hear from you!
