My shiny new toy, The Droid X

Ok so maybe it doesn't look nice and shiny. The screen protector makes the phone look battered and scratched.  You will have to take my word for it that this is new.

Well we splurged, literally.  We have been saving for months and the hubs and I finally purchased Droid X's.  It was time, our 2 year cell agreement was up and our phones, which 2 years ago were the coolest thing out there, were crap.  They were junk from the moment we left the cell store.

Did we need to buy such excessive phones?  Well maybe not.  I think a part of us had shiny object syndrome and wanted the latest and greatest.  This phone will come in handy for my work and well for him, it's just nice.

I can justify the purchase on my part.  I travel quite a bit for work.  All over the country I go.  Before this purchase, I had a local only cell plan which would limit my communication abilities while away from home.  With the upgrade to the Droid X we also upgraded our cell plan to nationwide.  For those of you who travel, via air, you know what a pain going through the security check point can be.  I only bring a carry on to avoid the checked luggage fee.  In the carry on, I must fit all of my clothes, makeup, hair crap, and then on top of that have another bag to carry my laptop, GPS system, camera, cell phone, mp3 player.  All of which need to be quickly removed from the bag and placed in the tray.  Then just as quick reloaded so not to be run over by the other oncoming travelers.  It is awkward, inconvenient and really a pain in the rear.

Now all I have to carry is this little number and I am on my way.  I'm actually looking forward to my next trip...whenever that maybe, just so I can test the convenience.

Besides that, if you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed an influx of uploaded pictures.  This thing is simply amazing.  I take a picture and 1 minute later I post the picture.  I'm addicted.  My emails, social media updates, everything goes directly to my phone so I am connected and up-to-date at all times, no matter where I am.  That is until I choose to remove myself.  No more going to the computer to check my status updates or emails. I love it.

Oh and if you are thinking about getting one or have one, I recommend an app called Google Goggles.  You can scan a bar code and it will tell you what the item is and if there are sales on that item locally, it will tell you.  Pretty awesome I must say.

Ooooh, I'm so jealous! My contract for my cellphone has been up for awhile and my phone is crap. I dream about a new phone. Maybe in the near future. Isn't it great to upload photos right from the phone? Nice!

  2. Meems, it's a little bit of awesome being able to upload pictures right from the phone.
